Did you know that kids develop negative racial attitudes based on the unspoken messages from the world around them as early as the age of three? Did you also know that parents’ explicit conversations with their kids can dramatically improve such attitudes? In this interactive workshop, open to all Chestnutwold parents and educators, we hope to increase your comfort level in talking with your kids about issues of race as they surface, both at school, home, and in society.
A bit about the presenters: Dr. Krista Malott, parent and former school counselor, currently trains counselors at Villanova University, where she engages in research related to multicultural competency, with a specialization in antiracism and White racial identity development. DeVon Jackson is a parent, Diversity Educator, and former teacher with a current workplace role as Director of Diversity & Inclusion at Salesianum School in Wilmington, Delaware.
